Add page numbers and a watermark
Put a number on every page in the corner you pick, and stamp a diagonal watermark across them if you need one.
How to use it
Open the PDF
The tool counts the pages and applies your settings to every one of them.
Set the number and the watermark
Pick a format such as 1 / 12, where it sits and which number the first page gets. For a watermark, type the text and set its size and darkness.
Apply and download
A new PDF comes down; your original file is not touched.
Worth knowing
Numbers with the total
Show the reader how many pages there are — useful for contracts and printed handouts, where a missing page should be obvious.
Continue from another file
Second part of a report? Set the first page's number to 41 and the numbering carries on where the first part stopped.
The watermark always fits
It runs diagonally through the middle of each page. Long text is scaled down automatically so it never runs off the paper.
A watermark is not protection
It is drawn on top of the page as text. It discourages copying, but someone with a PDF editor can remove it.
Common questions
Can I leave the cover page without a number?
Not yet — numbers go on every page. If the cover must stay clean, take it off with Split PDF, number the rest and join them back with Merge PDF.
Accented characters break in the watermark
The PDF standard font, Helvetica, uses WinAnsi encoding, and characters outside Western European are simply not in that table. The tool maps them to their nearest plain equivalent.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened in your browser's memory and processed there; no request goes over the network. With contracts and invoices that is exactly what matters.
